we had a great time at the royal standard, the room was super comfy and stylish. Breakfast was really good, loads of choices. the staff were friendly and helpful too, which was a big plus. also the location was perfect for walking into the center of ely.
however, the room was a bit noisy from the street and we found some dust on surfaces. also, the parking info could've been clearer from the start.

the royal standard is a charming old building, beautifully updated while keeping unique touches like the old bread oven by the bar. it's conveniently located just a short walk from the cathedral, river, and shops. the full english breakfast was outstanding, especially the homemade spicy black pudding. the staff were super friendly and immediately helped us with our bed arrangement.

We had a cozy room with a lovely rainfall shower that felt like pure luxury & the mattress was so comfy, I slept like a baby. the breakfast was exceptional, best full English I’ve ever had – it was quite the way to start the day.
It wasn’t exactly inexpensive but you know what, worth every penny I spent.
